Mock Placement Drive Series- Resume Writing

The first session of the Mock Placement Drive Series was conducted by IEEE WIE, SB CET on 6.10.2017 at EC Seminar Hall from 4:15 to 6:00 pm. The session which was open to all, was on Resume Writing. The session was handled by Jerrin James who explained the various elements in a resume and the hints to  making a good one using ResumeLab. IEEE ResumeLab is an online service that allows IEEE members to develop a resume or curriculum vitae using a wide array of resume templates. The session witnessed a participation of 25 enthusiastic students. Various questions regarding resume making were raised at the end of the session. The session concluded with Sai Lakshmi explaining about the Adobe Women in Tech Scholarship.

The session garnered positive reviews from the attendees. The successive sessions of the series which will be on Interview and Group Discussion will be conducted soon.

Mock Placement Drive ’17


IEEE WIE CET Chapter conducted the Mock Placement Drive ’17 for all second year students to give them an experience on the placement process and to help them  equip  better with the skills needed to emerge successful in it.The competition, conducted on Aug 11, witnessed a participation of 35 enthusiastic students for the preliminary round which covered questions from subjective,logical reasoning, aptitude and general knowledge areas.All the participants were given the chance to attend the Group Discussion as this would help them assess their communication skills.They were divided into different groups and various topics were discussed.The event was conducted by third year IEEE members.


Based on their performance in both the rounds, 15 bright contestants were shortlisted for the final round.The interview was conducted by fourth year IEEE members Jerrin, Amal,Sai Lekshmi and Adarsh. At the end, Abhijith Nandagopal of Computer Science Department and Mathew Chetipuzha of Electrical Department emerged the ‘IEEE Emerging Student of the Year ‘17 ‘ while  Mathew George of Computer Science Department bagged the consolation prize.

Basics of C++ programming


The first session of IEEE WIE was held on 19 th April,2017.The session which was open for all, was on
the basics of C++ programming.C++ is an object oriented programming language which is highly
portable and is often the language of choice for multi-device,multi-platform app development.The
session which had a count of ten participants was started off by Megha Ben and continued by
Amrith. The session was begun with a “Why C++?”question following which the importance of the
language was explained.Programming basics like data types,functions,decision making and looping
were explained.
The session had Aishwarya Shankar,Dakshinaa and Sailakshmi as on spot volunteers.The session
which began at 4:30pm concluded at 6:00pm.The session garnered positive reviews with the
participants requesting for successive sessions.Plans for follow-up sessions are underway.
