The workshop on ROS was conducted by RAS IEEE SB CET on 7th and 8th of October, 2017. The workshop was attended by 20 participants from various branches of both B.Tech and M.Tech. The workshop was handled by Aditya Vijaykumar, Engineer at ASIMOV Robotics and an alumni of CET. Gokul Krishnan, Athul Krishna, Nayana B and Ramakrishnan were the spot volunteers. By the end of the event, the participants had a basic understanding of all the major topics. They also had the opportunity to do a small project on mine detection. The sessions lasted from 9 am to 5 pm on both days and food and snacks were provided to all participants.
The second session on OpenCV ,as part of the ongoing Swarm Robotics Workshop series , was conducted by RAS IEEE SB CET on 9th October,2017 at EC Seminar Hall. The session lasted from 4 to 6:15pm and was attended by around 50 students from various branches. Various concepts in image processing and frequently used functions were covered. The session was handled by Athul and Adithya was the spot volunteer.
The second session of the RAS Swarm Robotics Workshop series was conducted on 27 September 2017 at the EC Seminar Hall from 4pm to 6:15 pm. The session, covering basics of OpenCV was handled by Athul Krishna A with Vaishnav J as a spot volunteer. The session was attended by around 60 students. A task, to be completed using OpenCV and python, was given to the participants to ensure that they review the topics covered before the next session.
The first session of the RAS Swarm robotics workshop series was held on 15/09/2017, Friday at the EC-Seminar Hall. The session, on Python programming, was handled by Dakshinaa, and lasted from 4pm to 6:15pm. Athul Krishna A and Nayana B were the spot volunteers. The session saw a participation of 84 students as 21 teams from first and second year, and across all branches. The session was meant to familiarise the participants with the basics of the language. The topics covered include datatypes, decision making and data structures .
The IEEE RAS Session on Embedded C Programming was conducted on 7th August, 2017. The session was handled by Gokul Krishnan and had Athul Krishna A, Vishnu S and Nayana B as spot volunteers. It had a total of 12 participants, a few of whom had no prior knowledge of programming. By the end of the session, the participants were familiarised with the basic concepts of the topic.
The workshop on Control of Mobile Robots was conducted on 8th and 9th of April,2017 by IEEE RAS SB CET. The session, handled by Ms. Jisha VR (Vice Chair, IEEE RAS Kerala Section), had a turnout of 27 students from various departments and years.
On the first day, the workshop was from 10am to 1:30pm, with the participants being given an introduction to mobile robotics and about MATLAB. On the second day, participants were taught how to model a differentially driven mobile robot and how simulink can be used for simulation.
