PES Quiz on IEEE PES Day

The Power and Energy Society of IEEE SB CET conducted the PES Quiz as a part of PES day on April 26th.It consisted of an aptitude test comprising 20 questions.IEEE executive members Mathew Chethipuzha [S6, EEE], Harishankar [S6, EEE] and Hamna Sunil [S4, EEE] actively present during the preparation of questions and at the venue. A prize money of Rs 1000 for the winner and a visit to Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant for the top 10 rankers was the highlight of the quiz.The quiz had active participation and saw students from all departments of the college.

An interactive session with the students of Govt. VHSS Girls School Thiruvallam aimed at the technical upliftment of girl students on 25th February 2019

Power and Energy Society (PES) and Women in Engineering (WIE) chapters of IEEE SB CET conducted a technical awareness and women in engineering class for the 9th graders of Govt. VHSS Girls School, Thiruvallam on the 25th of February from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. The class was taken by 4 members of CET ( Abhijith V Kamal [S4,EEE], Hamna Sunil [S4,EEE], Sinta Jacob [S4,AEI] and Akhila Krishna [S4,CSE]). They focused on how technology is important and how it is changing and the role women will play in all these changes. It had equal parts of presentations and interactive sessions. All these sessions were well received and the programme as a whole was good.

Power and Energy Society (PES) of IEEE SB CET conducted an interactive session on the topic
“THE NEED PERCEPTION AND REALITY OF NUCLEAR POWER” for the first year
students of Electrical and Electronics Department on 11 th March of 2019 from 2:30-5:30pm.The
interactive session was held by Mr. Jai Krishnan, Secretary of IEEE PES Kerala Chapter and the
sessions on nuclear power was taken by A.V Sathish, Scientific Officer at Kudankulam Nuclear
Power Plant. The sessions mainly focused on the need for nuclear power plant and its potential
as the future source of energy. The event was well received among the audience..

 

Report on the talk session by IEEE SPS Kerala Chapter on “Applications of Digital Signal Processing” held at CET on 19.10.17

This session held on October 19, 2017 had a turnout of 40 participants from various colleges. It began at 4:15 pm with the welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) K.C Raveendranathan. This was followed by Shri. B Ramani addressing the gathering. He gave a brief idea of the work currently being carried out at Centre for Development of Advanced Computing and the prospects and opportunities of getting internships there.
He continued to elaborate on the wide spectrum of applications of digital signal processing, explaining how CDAC carries out several of them. Some of the applications mentioned include Vehicle mounted acoustic mine detection systems, acoustic vector sensor systems, a recent project of CDAC-Ultrasonic Diameter Measuring Systems, MRI processing, the multi SHARC board for strategic applications, Sonic Ultrasonic NDT systems, “TARANG”-a digital programmable hearing aid ;its applications and advantages, a 3D visualization tool SRISTI, seizure prevention systems etc. to mention a few.
Afterwards, the speaker was given a memento on behalf of the SPS Chapter IEEE SB CET as a token of respect and appreciation. This greatly interactive session came to an end by 5:20pm with everyone rising and standing in attention for the national anthem. Refreshments and certificates were provided to all participants.

The IEEE Day 2016 was celebrated all over the world with the motto “ Leveraging Technology For A Better Tomorrow”. IEEE Kerala Section celebrated the IEEE Day by organising a torch run from Kasargod to Trivandrum covering 700 km in 8 days. The torch run reached CET on October 3rd marking the celebrations in the college. The torch run was accompanied by Chairman IEEE Day Celebrations Mr. Bibin Parukoor Thomas, IEEE Kerala Section Secretary Ms. Sarada Jayakrishnan, IEEE Kerala section Membership Development team Chairman Mr. Renjith R Nair , Student Activities Committee Member Mr. Sabarinath Pillai and other Kerala Section Execom members. The event was also conducted in the presence of Mr. Shajahan E.S., Branch Councillor IEEE SB CET. The event commenced with the talk by Ms. Sarada and followed by Mr. Bibin Parukoor who emphasized on the importance of IEEE day Celebrations. The event culminated with the torch lighting and handing it over to IEEE SB CET Chairperson Pooja M. by Ms. Sarada .

First Year Orientation

The Orientation for first years for 2016 was organised in the CETAA Hall on October 3rd from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. The main speakers IEEE SB CET Chairperson Pooja M. and IEEE Kerala Section Student representative Balagopal U. elaborated on the various benefits of being an IEEE member. The event also saw the experience sharing by a couple of the final years who emphasized on “how IEEE helps you to be a better individual”.
