Technical talk on “Optimal Motion Planning of Robots” – IEEE Robotics and Automation Society

IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, Kerala Section conducted a technical talk by Mr. Jinu Krishnan (Scientist,VSSC) on the Optimal Motion Planning of Mobile Robots at College of Engineering Trivandrum on 08/03/2018. Dr. Jisha V.R, Vice-Chairman, IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, Kerala Section, presided at this first scheduled event in the calendar year of 2018.
The talk mainly comprised of creating hybrid algorithms by developing an optimal path planner, supervised by an intelligent path follower. Mr. Jinu Krishan also explained the concept of optimality through various examples that can be traced in our daily lives. The session was also enriched by the questions that were raised by the students and the thoughts that had to be pondered upon. The guest also expressed his love for Mathematical Modelling and inspired us students to find solutions to the mathematical problems that exist in the current world and take a break from the rote learning ways. The talk which comprised of questions and ideas lasted for about 1.5 hours and was culminated by a QnA session. The talk provided an insight into the complex motion of robots and how algorithms could be set to control them.
